The first AGM 2012 Travel report from Ruth Hungwe

52nd LCI AGM REPORT

I would never have thought to visit Germany but through LCI, I found myself making a bookingruth1a to be in Germany for at least 5 days to attend the 52nd LCI AGM. On the 24th of August I arrived in Hamburg and then went home to Lüneburg, Germany and I testify that my life will never be the same again.

I have never encountered such hospitality and felt the spirit of friendship not only from my hostess Sandra Eilers but from everyone who is in her Circle. I have been struggling to aptly describe my time at the AGM. Being my last day in on the cruise, I went on a tour of Lüneburg and whilst being treated to some Rooibos tea (a familiar taste from home) at Anna’s Cafe in Lüneburg with my “twin sister” Sandra and “my son” from another mother, Falk, the words finally came to me and in nutshell this is what has been going on over the last 5 days .

I have been meeting old friends and family whom I met for the first time last week.

Honestly speaking its strange when one meets people for the first time and everything about that person fits in with who you are. It has been like holding hands – the other Circler’s fingers fit perfectly in the spaces between mine. Every encounter has been a perfect.

I had asked for home hosting firstly because I would not have been able to afford hotel accommodation and secondly I had asked how else would I get to know my hosts if I don’t become part of their routine. I have experienced being home hosted in the past but there has been something special about the Ladies of LC Germany especially those of LC Lüneberg. Although I lived in one ladies home, at least 8 of the ladies was involved in making me feel right at home. I have been thoroughly spoilt and made to feel like I am at home away from home. I was so at home that I have had the honour bestowed upon me as an honorary life member of this great family within LC Germany. I have my badges, my shirt, bags of presents, a cd of photos of my time here and yes and a heart that is full of love and warmth because I belong to the wonderful world of LCI. Tomorrow I set off from Germany

I leave having done the business of LCI in Hamburg. I have reunited with old friends from past LCI meetings and the bonus of having added a kaleidoscope of joyful memories that I shall carry with me forever.

You all know how “Sharing is Caring” so I am doing everything very quickly because Ruth3a I want you to feel instantly that I care! (I have learnt such English from the Germans but you know what I mean!)

Love you all.

Thank you LCI and LC Germany!
