LCI 2009-2010

Newsletter No 4

Dear Circlers, dear friends!

C:\Users\ardoamt.ARDO\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Word\president.jpg

And I think its gonna be a long long time.”  A short line from Elton John`s  song ” the rocket man”. Some of us thought this LC year would last longer than it has, I am one of them. The last month president jewels have been passed on from one fab lady to another. New Ideas have been presented and close to 200 ladies worldwide are ready to an extra job for their circle country.

Work is easier for these ladies when they receive the support from all circlers.  Because Ladies Circle starts with YOU! The first “leg” of the snowflake is every circler. Followed by a “leg” for each circle, each area, each country, each region of the world, and finally the whole world.  This makes 6 strong legs, and the shape of the snow crystal unique! Just like you and me!

What did you do for circle this year? Did you tell someone about what we do? Did you bring in a new lady to circle? I know that loads of you did exactly this, as our membership numbers that have been going quickly down, are now showing great signs of turning. We know that there is a drop in total membership numbers, but the picture is clear; ladies want LC and I am sure next year we will see good numbers over 12000 again! Make your circle strong and proud! Be proud of the work you do in circle, and tell people about it; I promise, you will get new friends in circle that way.

As my year as president is coming to an end in just approx 2 months I am humble and proud of being a Circler! All the hours my sisters in circle give to make a difference for other people touches me! On behalf of the people benefiting from your work I would like to say THANK YOU!

These last months have from my side been busy. Loads of work in front of the computer, preparations for Board meeting 4, and now we will start the final preparations for Lady Chocolate in Bruges. Close to 1000 registrations now! Are you coming?

As this will be our last newsletter for the year I would like to thank you all for your support and goodwill this year! I am so blessed to have met so many of you, to have been there for the charter of so many new ladies, and being president this year have thought me more about Ladies Circle and myself. Yes we are unique! Together we are strong, and I am convinces that in order to be strong we need to keep bringing new members into circle. Can you find a new candidate for your circle this summer?

Have a great summer holiday until we meet in Bruges, and to those of you who can’t be there; see you some other time! And remember;  you’ll never walk alone!  (maybe there is a Circler at the place you are going for your vacation, contact the Vice president in the country you are visiting and check out!)

All my love to my dear friends

Kjersti Irgens, President Ladies Circle International.

There are still some Snowflake pins to be sold, contact treasurer Nicole to place your order, or buy the last ones in Bruges! If you have a Side by Side event make sure to sell to the Tablers!  Read more about ECPAT on our website, it is a truly wonderful organization! Just like LCI!

The snow crystal is unique; just like each circler, each circle, area, country, region and finally our LCI world. Sparkle like the snowflake!

Please buy and wear the snowflake pin! It is an easy way to support our ISP and a great way to make people interested!

Our website is there waiting for your input! Please place reports after great meetings, and events.  Good reports are good publicity for LC! And it can also give other ladies some inspiration. Contact the Web-lady if you need assistance.

We want you!!!

Dear Circler and friend,

Are you the one we are looking for? LCI needs a Web-lady who can develop and maintain our Website. We expect that you have the skills and the routines in handling a website and that you are creative and proactive. This is your opportunity to make a contribution and set standards on the LCI website and to take the web a step further

Don't let a chance like that slip away - contact your National President today. We need you application by 10 July 2010.

Join us! We would be proud to have you on our team and remember: You’ll never walk alone

Our website is an important interface to the world!

Do you want to develop the website and make it more attractive and bring new functionality to it? We have a steady increase of visitors, but it could be even better.

As the Web-lady you will be responsible for the changes of the website. The major languages used are HTML and CSS. The most hectic month is September, as there is a new board on board, and all relevant information must be changed. Later on there are ongoing activities to help countries with reports, statistics and to maintain the general view of the website or even rebuilding it.

You might even be the first Weblady as a full board member. This means a lot of work, but even more fun and friendship!!

Make up your mind, give your heart a push, come forward...and accept the challenge!!

The application should be approved by your national board and sent to the LCI Secretary, Anne-Mette Thomsen.

LC Finland  50 years!

In May this year LCSF celebrated their 50th anniversary in Vasa

It was a wonderful AGM where 20 past national presidents attended.

Two past international presidents, Irmeli and Margareta attended as well. Iremli was LCI president when I was 1 year old,(68-69) and Margareta LCI president when I was 6 (73-74) Two fantastic ladies , still with a big heart for circle.

It was a great weekend with fun, laughter all we need for a great time.

On the Friday the theme was Viking party and it was so fun to see all Circlers and tablers dressed up.

Saturday was the day of the AGM and I don’t know how many, but would guess approx 250 ladies attended that AGM. Two candidates for the VP position and it is fun to see how much you actually can tell about a lady, just reading her body language! Two very enthusiastic  and serious ladies!

After AGM there was a wonderful banner lunch at the top of a hotel, and the sun was really shining on the golden ladies from Finland!

Saturdays Gala dinner was fab, and the greatest moment when all ladies attending stood in the front of the big hall singing a song about “ strong women” (  Iguess, have no clue..) but it sounded just right!

Thanks for a wonderful weekend in Vasa ladies! It was great fun!.

Board Meeting 4 in Skøvde, Sweden

Board Meeting 4 was held in Skövde, Sweden – the hometown of Malin our Vice President. We were all home hosted by circlers and the meetings were held at Factum, an advertisement company owned by a Tangent. Big thank you to all the members of LC106 for all you have done for us and for making us feel so welcome.

We had three very efficient and productive days. This Board Meeting is probably one of the most important ones of the LCI‐year. There was a lot of work to be done. All time was used for incoming proposals, rule changes, changes of guide lines, nominees, the AGM in general and the agenda’s for all the official meetings that takes place during the AGM i.a. Councillors Meeting, Annual General Meeting and International Contact Meeting.

First evening we had a nice BBQ at one of the circler, living in an apartment complex, all neighbors passing looked very envious of our nice food. Friday we vent to a local event, very popular in all Sweden – sing along.

And finally on Saturday when al the discussions were through we went out to a lake side cottage and pre celebrated the famous Swedish Midsummer eve, and of course we followed the grand Crown princess wedding in Stockholm on the TV.

Side by Side

Round Table had their Europe meeting in Pisa in june. Lookig at photos on facebook, and breef reports it sounds as they had a great time there.

RTIs conference will be helt in Dubai in October this year. LCI Incomming president Malin Dahlberg will represent LCI there and she is looking forward to this honour.

If your circle is having an arrangement do not forget to invite the tablers if there is a chance to do so! Together we are stronger and we can help each other wherever possible for the sake of those who need our help.  LC and RT Hong Kong is a briliant example on how to work side by side for service! ( and then also friendship) I know they are not the only som please send in good exampples on how to work side by side Ladies!

Yif, Kjersti I, LCI President 09/10
