Madagaskar!

The worlds fourth largest island, situated east of the southern Africa in the Indian sea. An estimated population of 20.6 million people in 2009.

Ladies Circle Madagaskar; founded in 2000 with LC France as theire god mother country. Members 23 hard working ladies!  Circles 2 strong circles and most  likely one more during this year!

Madagaskar was due to have a official visit this year and it was a great pleasure to go there directly after the MTM in Botswana.  I have to admit that I knew little about the circlers there and not much more about this wonderful country!

December, what a special time....

Its the time to go down memory lane, to see what the year has given us. As we circlers are unique, because we all look at the world with completely different eyes, and listen to the words spoken with our ears, we all get someting different and special out of our circle lives!

I would like to share some memories with you from 2009 in this short article.

Dear Ladies!
Today we turn to you with a project idea, that we, the Ladies from LC 56 Lüneburg (Germany), want to realize and for which we depend on your help.
We want to make an LC cookery book, which will be available in two languages: German and English. We want it to include recipes from different LC countries. The profit shall be shared in half between our German National Project and the International Service Project.

Lots of participants from europe were attending this event in the almost north of Norway in the city Tromsoe (where some thinks it is polar bears strolling around in the streets ;-) But in this event a serious ceremony took place with ice-bathing into the sea (4 degrees) Photos are uploaded in LCI Photogallery from Hakapikken

You would be happy to know that we have been able to raise Rs. 76,000/- till date for these unfortunate kids. On 11th FEb 2008, L C INTERNATIONAL CHARTER DAY we donated Rs 57,000/-

We circlers had a rocking time at the ladies night out at Coorg on 31st Jan 09. 11 Circlers traveled to Coorg, the Scotland of India. Travel with the wafting breeze through the captivating natural expanse of Coorg, one of India's finest hill stations. The hills beckon us to share their secrets whilst the valleys throw open special welcome to savour their charm. We circlers lost our selves to the beauty of Coorg, as the journey to the Western Ghats took us new heights of self-discovery. The scenery is mesmerizing. The winding roads took us through a maze of greenery. At every labyrinthine corner, we meet a collage of colours which explode into shades of greens, browns and yellows. They just lead us from one part of paradise to another. As we squint though the green fabric, we pass plantations of coffee, cardamom and pepper which merge with forests, foliage and fauna. This paradise on earth made us rejuvenate after the busy schedule we all hold in our daily routine.

15th February was 25th Landmark meeting of MALC 108. It’s also special as we had one of the mega socials “Shoot @ Sight” one of its kind in the recent times in Mysore, hosted by Tr. Sunil, Cr. Meghana & Tr. Sendhil, Cr. Devaki of MART 156 & MALC 108. The preparation for the same had been in full swing by the hosts and fellowship convener Tr. Manoj for almost 15days. It was being attended by all three tables and circles of Mysore. And we circler’s jus wanted to go there and have fun & fun we did have, to the utmost point.

By convention there is colour for us. But imagine the fabric of a life whose colours have run or one that has never known colour at all…it must enfold extreme agony. We have the gift of sight, we see but we do not observe. And there are some who do not have sight and “see” a lot more than us. LC46 dedicated the 1st quarter this year to the visually challenged and endeavoured to understand their dark world better.

The festival season, the season of celebrations and happiness is here. This is the time of the year when I am full of anticipation of good things to come. I looked up my tentative LC46 calendar and lo and behold flashed this exciting event before me – Durga Pujo Pandal hopping.

“Old people have one advantage compared with young ones. They have been young themselves, and young people haven’t been old.” RT34 and LC46 celebrated Baghban their annual Grandparent’s Day with much ado. All the Twinklers wrote poems for their grandparents and the best one by Tws. Khushboo and Trisha was chosen as the invite. The grandparents were personally invited with a decorative terracotta diya and a scroll enhancing the festive mood of Diwali.

November is a busy fundraising month for Hong Kong Ladies’ Circle. Following shortly on the heels of our annual fundraising Hawkers Night Bazaar, a team of Ladies Circle members helped Royal Doulton run their factory sale at the Li Hall, St. John’s Cathedral, Hong Kong on Saturday 15th November.

Thank you for all your faith, understanding and friendship, bestow upon me and especially for the gifts, cards and messages received during the Conference in Aberdeen, when I officially stepped down, not only from the Ladies Circle International Board but also from being a member of Ladies Circle due to my age.

Calcutta Park Street Ladies Circle No.46 Wishes Cr.Seetha Venkatesh a very wonderful journey as President,Ladies Circle International

"The tumult and the shouting dies, The LCI President departs, And we are left with large supplies Of fond memories in our Happy Hearts." Calcutta park Street ladies circle 46 had the proud privilege to host the National President Cr. Uma for a day during her Presidential visit to Area IV.

The LC1 Vevey in a drive to recruit new members held an "Open Doors" event in which they invited and advertised the benefits of LC membership to Ladies in the region.

“Ladies’ Circle Italy Golf Cup” remains forever our immense pride. It has been so far the unique initiative on the national level; it’s the testimony that we enjoy life in the right spirit of being Ladies. “Ladies’ Circle Italy Golf Cup”, last year, brought 8ooo€ to our Service.

Most of you are currently busy having your AGM next and the National LC-life hits its peak! Your National Board will change in the coming days, or recently has changed, and that is where LCI comes into play ;-)

Time fly’s with LCI, all so soon BM3 approached, and with tickets booked, by plane and train, we descended upon Denmark. The third Board Meeting was to be hosted by our LCI Treasurer Christina, with her assistant for the duration, Past LCI President Susanne and her husband Kelk

Well it was that time of year again – Area 9 Round Table Rally in Southport, GB & I, where members of Round Table and Ladies Circle together with families descend on a pre-chosen hotel, for a weekend of family fun.

After enjoying Kathleen’s artistically colourful messages and articles, I think it’s a “must” to write something about a special initiative of LC Milan, an explosion of colours: the sixth edition of the exhibition of children’s paintings at my art gallery.

LC-1 Vevey in Switzerland meeting took place last week. We were fortunate to be able to welcome Fiona Stephen, ChairLady of LC GB&I Turiff in Scotland. (Their circle is the one organizing the LCI conference in Aberdeen).

The next official visit on my Agenda for the year was visiting Conference Venues so Aberdeen was next on the list.

LCI President’s Hands On Work for ISP 2007/2009. The LCI Board 2007/2008 – The Colourful Team - have taken it upon themselves to donate a Toilet towards this project and call it the Ms Sophie Toilet.

Side by Side is important, Just stop and Think for a Moment. The LCI President works ‘Side by Side’ with Tablers and 41ers in her country all in the name of ‘Friendship & Service’. These are part of the lyrics of this year’s LCI Song. Moreover as it is also one of my targets for the year, I thought to myself what better place to start acting upon this than in my own country.

More than 400 guest attended the Ladies' Circle Presidental Ball held at East Midlands Conference Center - EMCC, in aid of ChildLine. See photos and read more from this event in the attachement to this report.

On the spare of the moment I decided to join LC GB&I at their Presidential Ball which took place over the weekend 27 – 30 September 2007 in Nottingham combined with a Councillors Meeting. But attending in the normal manner would have been too boring I wanted to ‘Spice Up’ my trip therefore I decided to attend as a surprise to Michelle and most of the other participants.

On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, in many places all over the world we remember soldiers and war hero’s who put their lives on hold to represent their Country.

The 2nd board meeting at Malta--Kathleen here we come to add a touch of our colours to LCI , your home & country!! With this cheerful and colourful wish Tracey, Linda, Christina and myself left our shores to the beautiful Malta.

The last evening of Seetha's visit to Italy arrived: I felt very sorry to part with my Indian friend. We took Seetha out for pizza, then back to the Gallery for the presentation of the book "Naked Soul" by Cesare Santi and Lorenza Caravelli (a Lady's sister).

Believe me, I’ve found it hard to write something about Seetha’s visit to Italy: the memories of those five days are too beautiful for me to find appropriate words. An Indian Lady in company of a Vietnamese Lady around Italy in five days!

Just before the LCI conference Mirela and Cristina from LC-6 Detroit visited my club in Odense. We managed to make the minutes in English

Two days ago, I had the privilege to travel with other members from Round Table India to the Tsunami affected areas for the Inauguration of 4 new schools. Having initiated this project last year, it was indeed very heartening to see this project reaching the Completion stage.

Dear Ladies, we do not know how this happened...but when we arrived at Glasgow Airport and opened our luggage we found we had a little stowaway. Your lovely banner had obviously decided that it would like to visit Scotland for a while and had hidden in our suitcases. We are happy to have it visit with us and have been showing it the tourist spots. However whilst it is happy with us we are sure that it will soon be homesick. Elena visits LC Italy on 3-6/5/2005

When you are a committed Circler nothing is impossible. the circlers actually help you to heal by not making you feel like a handcapped but encourage you to be as normal as you possibly can under the circumstances. any one reading it wil know that and maybe it is an advert for nominee's that even if you break your break your neck or legs you are still needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just HAVE to share with you all something beautiful that happened today. A beautiful story, a little fairytale, and proof that miracles do happen !

Past LCI Officers’ reunion is organised every second year. - The first get-together was in GB&I in 1992, when one of the initiators was Laila Närhinen, Past LCI President 1989-90, from Finland - The second reunion was in the Netherlands, in Harlem in 1995, then - in 1997 in Brussels, Belgium - in 1999 in Stavanger, Norway - in 2001 in Dorking, GB&I - in 2003 in Kokkola, Finland. Next time we will meet in Amsterdam on 22-24 April 2005.

Dear sisters The moment I was writing you this message, my suitcase was still packed for the LCI conference. That day, I retrieved my passport from the Romanian Embassy in Nairobi, only, without visa.

I went in Bucarest since Sunday 29/08 because I need having a handover with Anke-Thea, but also because I would like to visit this town. Anke Thea anbd her Husband Yard, were very nice friends and we had really good time together !

It was the first Euro meeting in years, my first meeting as LCI president and it was a wonderful weekend.
