Johannesburg, imagine to be back after more that three years. I’m so thrilled!
I don’t know what this part of the world do to us, but many of you Northerners that visited MTM in Botswana might have realized the specificness as well.

An American college of mine when I worked in South Africa said: “Once Africa, always Africa.” And I tend to agree. It is always nice to come back, especially on a tour like this. I had welcome committee standing at Joburg international that I have never seen alike: LCI President Kjersti, LC South Africa president Chantell and LC South Africa Vice President Michelle. Michelle and later Silvia took Kjersti and me for a tour through a national park on the way up to gabs. I was very special to see the bush this time, as it was extremely green and a lot of water, not like I’m used to.

After an interesting game drive on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning we headed towards gabs. Arriving there, the party was going on already with Ladies from a lot of different countries. Not only the Northern and African region, but also visitors from other areas.
It was a nice and informal evening, some few speeches, even if some were very late, nice entertainment, good food and great music to dance to.

After some minor hassles Kjersti and I managed to get a hotel room as well.
Saturday morning we went over to the conference area. Good time to meet up and chat again, before the meeting started. GB&I read the aims and objectives as Goodmoters, and Zimbabwe, our youngest, lit the candle of friendship. Kjersti had a introduction and asked Eva, President of LC Sweden to hold a speech on a theme many of us should think more about; Good Enough. And I think Eva did it great.

We heard what all the countries had been up to so far during the year and we had interesting discussions like side by side, recruiting a friend in another country and different kind of money “business”. A very nice part of the meeting was the induction of two new circlers from Zambia.

After a nice lunch and short photo organization we were all collected at the hotels and transferred out into the bush. At the Mokolodi Nature reserve we were first greeted with drinks before we went for short drive in the reserve area. As the sun set we came into a Braai area for dinner. A beautiful evening under the African fullmoon(?). Anyone who weren’t fined by the sergeant of arms?

Next morning I had the luck to get a ride back to Joburg with some very nice Ladies from Cape Town.
A great THANK YOU to all who made this weekend a memorable one
